Public Relations
There are many Public Relations service providers out there (see my notes on the virtual cloud), but few go beyond the conventional motions. One Edward Louis Bernays (1891 - 1995)* is credited with being the "father" of public relations. According to him, "Public relations is a management function which tabulates public attitudes, defines the policies, procedures and interest of an organization followed by executing a program of action to earn public understanding and acceptance."
Bernays ostensibly understood that the most important person in the chain that leads to "relations" with the "public" is the public - the consumer. All too often, public relations "campaigns" are crafted in a vacuum. Those who would provide counsel and content based on textbook templates are doing you a disservice.
Public relations, media relations and the crafting and delivery of content that resonates with the consumer are inextricably linked. Seek an approach that is tailored to your needs.
